The basis of a good pizza is often the tomato sauce, highly representative in Italy. You can, in fact, simply enjoy a pizza with its tomato sauce, a few slices of mozzarella and basil. But even the simplest pizza needs to have the right ingredients to do justice to the the true good pizza. So, which tomato sauce to choose ? The latter can take several forms or textures, Each preparation or mixture is different.

The tomato sauce is one of the main ingredients of a pizza.
Spread over the entire surface of the dough, it is essential. A bad tomato sauce will make a bad pizza. The tomato sauce can be found at various local merchants or it can be homemade. You will find as many tomato sauces as there are varieties of pizza. In fact, we can name a few brands such as De Cecco, Cipriani, Italiana Vera, Prunotto, Pagrlione or even Don Antonio.
These tomato sauces, differents from one another, are pulpy for some, flavored with basil for others or even velvety. When it comes to choosing your sauce, there is only one rule : the one that dictates your palate !
Which homemade tomato sauce for my pizza ?
To make a good tomato sauce, you first need ripe tomatoes.
Make small incisions on the tomatoes and put them in boiling water. This will help you peel them. Then, cut them and remove the seeds before grinding them. Next, using a garlic press, smash some garlics, the sufficient amount, and chop an onion.
Put the tomatoes, the garlic and the onion in a pan and let them cook for about 2 to 3 minutes. You can then add the seasonings : salt and pepper for taste; sugar for the binder; oregano, oil and thyme to enhance the flavour.
Finally, add a good amount of tomato paste and let it cook for ten minutes. Pass everything through a sieve and apply an exquisite homemade tomato sauce on your pizza !
What thickness of tomato sauce for my pizza ?
To spread yout tomato sauce, it is essential to cover most of the pizza starting from the center without going to the edges to be able to serve you cleanly.
In order not to damage your pizza dough, be sure to use suitable utensils. In terms of thickness, put a good layer of tomato sauce to slightly moisten the dought during cooking. Otherwise, it may result in a crunchy pizza.
If you put too much tomato sauce, the opposite effect will occur : you will have a soft pizza. The right amount of tomato sauce to apply is a matter of experience. It's all a question of dosage !
